The New Girl at Kamulu
We have a new girl student who joined us on Saturday. Priscah Kerobu has both parents. The dad works as a night guard at a local company on the western part of Nairobi. Her mom work as a casual worker and does odd jobs at a place called Kangemi. She has an older brother who is in high school, a brother who is grade 3 and a younger sibling who is in nursery school.
She is 14 years old and a bit shy. She has a winning smile that brings her innocence out. She is a special child in that she has a case of being defiled twice in her teen life. We are so happy to have her here with us. We highly hope that MITS will be a haven for her to find hope, trust and gain more confidence to face tomorrow despite what has happened in her past life.
Priscah loves watching action packed movies. She says she has always had passion to be a hairdresser. With Gods' help this will come true as she has joined a family that has abundant love and is always preparing its children for life's struggles by training in life skills.
Prisca had been living on the streets and moved back and forth from home to the streets. She was living at the Liliput Base then back home, then to the streets and Mlango Kubwa base. She stayed there for a while then went back home and then back to Mlango Kubwa base. This is where Mama George (Jane Njeri) found her.
Because she was raped twice, she is now struggling with STI. She is already on antibiotics to treat this. She also has fear within her; she cannot trust easily and takes time before opening up, probably because of trauma that has happened to her. Irene is counseling with her. She never disclosed to us whether the person who did this to her is a close relative, but that is likely. She never wants to talk about the father that much.
She is so sweet and adorable, she has likable qualities. i think she fits perfectly in MITS, she deserves our help, and God has brought her to us at the right time.

STREET MINISTRY - AT THE BASES
Visiting the bases today with me was Anthony, Kennedy, Evans, Jacqueline (a new volunteer) and Francis Cugia (one of our own who is working on streets as he waits for his national identity card).
We prayed before leaving the Eastliegh center then began the visits. I shared the gospel from Matthew 13: 44-48 about the Kingdom of Heaven. We encouraged them to repent and change their ways so that they would not miss out on the Kingdom of Heaven. Everyone at the bases was attentive today and appreciated the visit. One man at the Redeem base especially appreciated our visits saying that church leaders normally pass by and don't stop to pray with them or share the gospel with them. He thanks God for Made in the Streets. The bases we visited today were Lilliput, Mlango Kubwa, Redeem, Chicago and visited with other street boys who were playing soccer in the street.
We returned to the Eastliegh Center dusty, tired and hungry but thankful to have encouraged those on the streets to make the kind of changes God wants them to make. It is a joy to reach out to the street children. Thanks to all of you who make this ministry possible.
